North Quabbin Garden Club

ATHOL – On Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m, at the Millers River Environmental Center, the North Quabbin Garden Sale is holding a plant sale. The plants come from members’ gardens and many of the plants are natives. The club looks forward to seeing local gardeners at the annual plant sale that supports the program of informative speakers and interesting workshops, open to all.

Marty’s ReminisceOrchestra performance at Congregational Church

ATHOL—Marty’s Reminisce Orchestra will bring 15 musicians and two vocalist per coming favoritres from the Big Band era at the at Congregational Church on Sunday, May 19, 4:30 p.m.

Phillipston HistoricalSociety meeting

PHILLIPSTON – The annual meeting for the Historical Society of Phillipston will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Congregational Church Vestry.

The museum was closed last summer in order to repair cosmetic cracks in the walls and ceiling that were caused by moving the building, along with replacing siding and painting. Now the society is planning summer events and open house hours. Join the meeting as the society reviews the past and makes plans for the coming year.

Newport Playhouse trip with Golden Age Club

ATHOL – The Athol Golden Age Club along with Wilson Bus Line are currently accepting reservations for a trip to the Newport Playhouse in Newport Rhode Island. The date of the trip is Wednesday, June 12.

Join this trip to see “The Cemetery Club” where three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. Three very different women, three different personalities and maybe even a budding romance. This trip includes a buffet, the play and a cabaret-a day filled with entertainment.

The Petersham FridayMarket returns

PETERSHAM—The Petersham Friday Market returns Friday, May 24 from 3-6 p.m., once again bringing local food, handmade crafts and live music to the town common. Come enjoy the day with the vendors and live music. The common provides limited seating or bring your own. It is also wheelchair accessible.

Free Living Farm of Petersham and Rick Wilkey Produce will bring locally grown produce, including asparagus, spring greens and early roots. Valcourt Sugar Shack will offer maple syrup made in Petersham. Eggs, vegetable and flower starts, and crafts will also be available, including bat and bird houses, wreaths and wood carvings. Local practitioner Seeing Hands Massage will offer relaxing and therapeutic massage.

Fern & Rita is scheduled to provide the first live performance of the 20-week music series.

The Petersham Friday Market runs from May 24 – Oct. 4. The live music series is offered thanks to support from the Wild Geese Foundation, Petersham Town Meeting voters, the Petersham Cultural Council, Petersham Grange No. 95, Harvard Forest and other local donors.
