Any questions that community members have will be answered.
The Friends of the Library would especially like to see folks who have never been in the library, or who haven’t visited in years, to come experience and explore for themselves what the library has to offer. If
Also planned is a Library Scavenger Hunt and storytelling for the kids, tours of the building, and a slide show on the history of the Beals Library. FITCHBURG – The Petersham Lions Club in partnership with the Montachusett Regional Technological High School in Fitchburg sponsored a blood drive with Massachusetts General Hospital Bloodmobile on May 3. Thirty-eight pints of blood were donated.
This is the third year that the Petersham Lions Club and Montachusett Regional have collaborated in offering the blood drive. The Lions Club collaborates with the students in the National Honor Society (NHS) to spread the word and encourage donors to sign up. The May event was led by NHS student Sophia Carlson. Her fellow students were Chloe Hill, Isabella Williams, Evan McGrath and Ava Wislocki.
MGH’s bloodmobile is a self-contained bus that has four recliners for those donating, experienced staff of registered nurses and phlebotomists. They offer drinks and snacks afterwards for donors. The entire process takes 30-45 minutes including completing paperwork, a prescreening by a staff member and the actual donation. Donors are able to book appointments online through the MGH Bloodmobile website.
The next Bloodmobile date at Monty Tech will be Nov. 1. The exclusion criteria are listed on the website and with the advancements in blood testing, processing and medical care, there are very few exceptions.
