Bulletin board: Jason Kelton, Terry Boyce capture Country Club of Greenfield’s Senior Club Championships

Jason Kelton posted a two-round total of 149, good enough for low gross honors at the Country Club of Greenfield’s Senior Club Championship over the weekend.

Kelton shot rounds of 74 and 75 en route to the 5-over 149, putting him three shots clear of runner-up Mike Archer (152) and Nate Burdick (152). Dave Collette won a playoff to snag low net honors (69).

Terry Boyce won the women’s title, firing a round of 78 to secure low gross honors. Nancy Donoghue had the low net (70), while Raye Young won the Erin Hills Flight (85) and Elaine Goodhind had the low net there (75).

Archer won the August Flight (75) on the men’s side, and David Kennedy had the low net (77).

In the Quail Hollow Flight, Chuck Yetter shot 77 for low gross, and Michael Duclos had the low net score (72).

In the Oakmont Flight, Terry Blanchard shot 73 for the low gross, and Norman Morris’ 70 was the low net.    

In the Royal Portrush Flight, Matt Pitoniak was low gross winner (78), and Ernie Patnode was low net winner (70).

The Greenfield Tennis Association will sponsor a special fundraising morning of community doubles tennis on Saturday, June 7. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward the continuing maintenance of the public clay courts of Greenfield.

Men, women, juniors and seniors of all levels are welcome to play in this fun community event. You will enter as a single person; your doubles partner will be selected randomly and will change throughout the morning with each round. 

Arrive any time before 9 a.m. at Beacon Field courts for warm-up and registration. Team and court assignments will start at 9:15 and play will start by 9:30. Pre-registration is unnecessary. The tournament will be completed by early afternoon.

If you cannot commit to the full event, that is not a problem. Come join for a couple of rounds if you’d like, and leave when you need to.

Entry fees are $10 for GTA members, $15 for non-members. GTA memberships will be on sale at the time of registration. Questions? Call Larry Klein 413-824-8129. Rain postponement would be announced by 8 a.m. tournament day by e-mail.

Maniatty 6, Smitty’s 1 – Rylan McIver, Anthony Ruggeri, Preston Charboneau and Jackson Puchalski led the way offensively in Maniatty’s Majors Division win over the weekend.

Jordan Terrillion and Adrian Lopez each hit safely while Malcom Tyler scored the lone run in the loss.

Liberty Tax 8, Denny’s 7 – Cameron Santerre, Lew Graves and Theo Schulte had hits in the win for Liberty Tax.

Conner Bergeron, Mason Lovett and Vin Toothaker had hits for Denny’s in the loss.

Gilmore & Farrell 3, Maniatty 0 –
 G &F swept a doubleheader, riding no-hitters from Phil Brodeur and Ben Shivone.

Alex Gonyer had a hit and Jackson Baker scored the winning run in the opening game, while Baker, Miles Williams, Ben Woodard and Andrew Gardner knocked in runs in Game 2.

Aubuchon Hardware 7, Liberty Tax 4 – Charlie Tyler and Emerson Snow each had hits in Aubuchon’s win. Owen Little pitched a hitless sixth inning to close out game.

Liberty Tax received two hits from Lew Graves, while Kent Warner had a hit and three RBIs and Theo Schulte also had a hit.
