An old lady in Italy sits on her porch or inside her apartment with the porch door open. There’s another one in Tunisia, Morocco, Paris, and Vienna. There’s one right here in Heath. One or two more down the road — more in the hilltowns, others in the Falls. There are young mothers watching their children in Wuhan province, Berlin, Baghdad, and Miami.

There is laundry drying on the line in Katmanduin, Missoula, Montana, and in Bangladesh.

Our humanity is on display near the Golden Gate Bridge, near Big Ben in London, in Chinatown USA. A child is folding an origami peace crane in Bavaria, Basel and in Ipswich. A man walks his dog in Marin, Managua, Montreal, and Uruguay, then releases her off leash to run and run and play.

We all have our humanity in common. We each understand this from our own porch vantage point today.
