Paulin competes in All-Star Game

Greenfield’s MacKenzie Paulin got to compete against the best high school softball players in the state on Sunday, as she was selected and competed in the Agganis Foundation All-Star game in Lynn.

Paulin — who led the Green Wave to a Western Mass. Class C championship and to the MIAA Div. 5 championship game — competed on the South Roster and was the lone player from Western Mass. selected to the annual All-Star game.

The Merrimack commit showed well against the best in the state, pitching five innings, striking out nine, allowing just two hits along with no walks and no runs as she led the South to an 8-5 victory. Paulin was named MVP of the South team for the performance.

Named in honor of Lynn native and former Red Sox Harry Agganis who passed away in 1955, the foundation has provided over $2.5 million in scholarships to over 1,000 students since it began.

As well as delivering scholarships, the foundation names all-star teams for nine sports and hosts games as a way to raise funds for the scholarships.
